A digital athletics department

One Wyandanch, one record

Wyandanch is rebuilding its athletic tradition with intention. The wrestling program has already returned, its history restored — Suffolk County champions, state champions, an All-County lineage sourced back to Isiah Whaley in 1961. In December, this department launched a physical Wall of Fame to honor that legacy where students can see it every day.

This proposal takes what already exists for wrestling and gives it to every Wyandanch team, permanently, and makes it update itself.

Today Wyandanch runs three separate systems: DigitalSports for the public athletics site, FinalForms for registration, and Hudl for team pages. Three logins, three vendors, three bills — and none of them gives an athlete a record they own. Journey replaces all three with one system, on a domain the district controls.

What every coach and athlete receives

A coaching cockpit for every team

Each team — varsity, junior varsity and modified, boys and girls — receives its own control panel at its own address. One coach running three teams gets one login across all three. From it a coach manages roster, schedule, results, team store and communications, and posts news simply by sending an email. Teams are built one season ahead, so every page launches full, never empty.

A verified, portable athlete record

The district keeps its education records; the athlete keeps their bio, photos, highlights and verified results, and those travel with the student.

• Results are public by default; everything else is opt-in, and for every student under 18 the parent or guardian controls what is shown.
• Date of birth, GPA, medical information and phone number are never public — not a setting, a permanent rule.

How it is priced

Priced by the team, paid as you grow. A one-time build deposit stands up each team; a simple monthly rate runs it. Nothing is collected as a large annual lump — the monthly reads as an operating expense and stays well below any single-transaction procurement threshold.

The building and the business, kept separate

The platform subscription is the only line that appears as district spending. Apparel and fundraising are the district's own operation — transacted by families and booster clubs, never purchased by the district. Journey earns a margin only where Journey is the seller; on fundraising, dollars pass through at 100%.

Founding-district pricing

Wyandanch fields roughly 39 teams across high school and modified. As Journey's founding district, Wyandanch receives a 60% waiver on the build deposit, the public monthly rate held with no future increase, and founding recognition: named founding district, a voice in the roadmap, and white-glove onboarding.

Roughly $2,340 to begin and about $1,521/month thereafter — approximately $18,000/year for the entire department. Wyandanch today pays three separate vendors for less than this delivers as one.

À la carte — a single team, with AD approval

If the department is not ready to move all at once, an individual coach can stand up their own team from their team budget with the Athletic Director's approval — $195 build, $69/month. The team still connects to the district hub. À la carte is priced above the department rate on purpose: the full package is always the better value for the district.

Addresses

Handled entirely by Journey. Journey registers, provisions and manages every address as part of setup — nothing for the district to purchase, renew or configure — and assigns any or all of them to the district on written request, or automatically at the end of the agreement, at no cost.

Each sport carries its own program address with both programs beneath it as equals. wyandanchbasketball.com is the basketball program — combined results, shared history, one shop — with girlsvarsity. and boysvarsity. as peer addresses under it. No program sits at a subdirectory of another.

Rollout — one season ahead

Teams are built one season before that sport plays, so each launches with a real roster and schedule already on it. Because wrestling is already built, the department demonstrates the finished product on day one rather than describing it.

Built for a public district

• Student privacy (NY Ed Law §2-d and FERPA). Journey signs a Data Privacy Agreement and adopts the district's Parents' Bill of Rights. District-sourced roster data remains the district's education record.
• Procurement (NY GML §103). Billing is monthly and per-team, kept below single-transaction thresholds and structurally separate from all commerce.
• Commerce structure. Apparel and fundraising are transacted by families and boosters under their own agreements, not by the district.
• Minor safety. Parent-controlled visibility and a permanent block on publishing identifying data for any student under 18.

Why Journey, and why now

Journey Athletics is an athletics-first company. Its founder is a lifelong wrestler and coach; the wrestling program's site — already live, already sourced to 1961 — was built by Journey before a dollar changed hands, as proof of what the department can have.

The digital Wall of Fame this department launched in December already exists for wrestling. Phase One turns it on for every team.
